Survival Wisdom in Honkai: Star Rail: A 2026 Treasure Hunt Walkthrough
I played through Survival Wisdom again in 2026, and the quest is still the same delightfully shady treasure hunt in Belobog's Great Mine. If you're like me, you'll start by opening your phone and wondering why Sampo is hiding in a snow pile instead of, say, doing something useful. That's the hook: he messages you, asks for help, and before you know it you're collecting mining tools and chasing a map that may or may not be honest. The good news is that the quest is short, the rewards are tidy, and the only real trap is assuming the first shiny thing is the treasure. It isn't.

Starting Survival Wisdom: Sampo's small favor
Head to the Great Mine area of Belog and talk to Sampo. He asks for three mining tools at first, but you can negotiate him down to two. I always negotiate here; why haul three tools when two will do? The first tool is right beside Sampo on a rack, marked by a tiny shining spot near some shovels. Grab it, then follow the blue marker for the second one.

The path to the second tool is blocked by vagrants, so clear them out. When you reach the blue marker, you'll fight another vagrant plus two small robots. Once they're down, take the equipment back to Sampo. He hands over a treasure map, but it won't appear on your actual map, so you have to read the paper and follow the area clues yourself.
This is where Sampo's directions are less a map and more a stage magician's sleight of hand: the obvious shiny object is a decoy, and the real prize waits behind the curtain.
The Great Mine decoy: gas mask, not gold
In the Great Mine area, the treasure zone sits in the middle, and it may be grayed out until you discover it. Walk into the area and defeat the vagrants near the camps on the left side. Beside those camps, you'll see another shiny spot. Interact with it and you'll get a gas mask.

That gas mask is not the treasure Sampo promised, so don't panic. Head back to the location where you took the quest and talk to Sampo again. The quest will finish after that dialogue, and you'll receive the quest rewards plus another map that leads to the actual treasure.
The Great Mine's fog-of-war is a locked diary: you have to walk into the blank page before it reveals its handwriting.
Finding the real treasure
The real treasure chart points to roughly the same area as the gas mask, except this time you need to cross the area where you can see the bridge above. Get to the corner of that area, and you'll find another shiny spot on the ground.

Interact with that spot, and it spawns a Precious Chest. Here's what I got from it in 2026:
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Trailblaze EXP | 30 |
| Stellar Jade | 30 |
| Thief's Relics | 2 |
| Shields | 80 |
| Achievement | Greed Psychology |
My quick 2026 tips
-
Negotiate Sampo down to two mining tools. It saves time and fights.
-
Clear the vagrants on the path to the second tool before you worry about the map.
-
Use the blue marker for the second tool, but use Sampo's paper map for the treasure.
-
If the central treasure area looks grayed out, just walk into it to discover it.
-
Don't mistake the gas mask for the final reward. Return to Sampo first.
-
For the real chest, look near the corner of the area with the bridge above.
-
The achievement Greed Psychology is a nice bonus, so open the Precious Chest even if you're mainly here for Stellar Jade.
Why this quest still matters in 2026
Even with newer planets and modes, early Belobog side quests are still efficient. Thirty Stellar Jade isn't a massive pile, but it's a clean chunk, and two Thief's Relics can help early builds. The achievement is a pleasant extra, and the quest itself is quick once you know the trick. Survival Wisdom is like a snow globe with a coin hidden in the base: small, self-contained, and satisfying once you tilt it the right way.
If you're on a fresh account or cleaning up old quests, I'd still do Survival Wisdom. Sampo remains unreliable in the most entertaining way, the Great Mine is easy to navigate after one pass, and the real treasure is close enough that you won't waste an evening. Just remember: the first shiny object is bait, the gas mask is a detour, and the chest you actually want is waiting near the bridge.
