My Go-To 3-Star Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail (2026 Edition)
Hey Trailblazers! If you’re like me and don’t have a pile of Stellar Jade to throw at every Light Cone banner, or if RNG just hates you, you know the struggle of building characters with limited options. But here’s a little secret: some 3-star Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail are absolute gems, even in 2026. I still use a few of them in certain teams, and they can keep up with the meta surprisingly well. Let me walk you through my top picks for each Path, and why you shouldn’t sleep on them.

Hunt: Darting Arrow

The Hunt path is all about dealing big damage and picking off enemies one by one, so a Light Cone that rewards you for doing just that is a no-brainer. Darting Arrow’s passive gives a massive 48% ATK boost after the wearer defeats an enemy. Have you ever had Seele wipe out a whole wave? With this, she just keeps snowballing. Yanqing, too, loves this cone if you’re running a freeze team. Of course, the base ATK is nothing to write home about, so you’ll want to swap it out for a 4-star or 5-star as soon as you can. But for early game or when you’re short on resources, Darting Arrow is a lifesaver. Does it beat a 5-star? Well, no — not for raw stats — but until you get one, it’s perfectly serviceable.
Erudition: Data Bank

Erudition units often live and die by their Ultimate, right? That’s where Data Bank shines. A flat 56% boost to Ultimate DMG is nothing to scoff at. Argenti, for instance, can spam his Ultimate with this cone and see some crazy numbers. Even Jing Yuan benefits since his Ultimate still hits hard. The only downside is the low base ATK, but funny enough, Data Bank’s base ATK is a bit higher than other 3-star cones, so it’s a little less painful. I used this on my Herta back before I got better options, and she cleared Pure Fiction stages without a hitch. At R5, it’s a beast for any AoE character you’re building on a budget.
Harmony: Mediation

One of the most underrated 3-star Light Cones has to be Mediation. It gives your entire team a speed boost at the start of battle — and let’s be honest, getting those first attacks in before the enemy can move is huge. Especially in content like Memory of Chaos where cycles matter. What I love about this cone is that most Harmony characters don’t scale their buffs on their own stats, so the low stats on the cone don’t hurt them. You can slap it on Asta, Tingyun, or even Ruan Mei and still get the full support value, just a little less personal damage. Is it ideal? Not forever. But until you get something like Memories of the Past or Dance! Dance! Dance!, Mediation is a neat little trick to have.
Nihility: Loop

Loop is sneaky good. It dishes out 48% extra damage to slowed enemies. Now, you might think “but I need a Nihility character that slows!” And yes, Welt and Silver Wolf are the obvious users. But here’s the kicker: you don’t even need the wielder to apply the slow. As long as the enemy is slowed by any source (Freeze counts!), Loop triggers. That opens up a lot of team synergy. I used Loop on Pela in a team with March 7th freezing enemies, and it was glorious. The only catch is that it’s situational, and you’d want an Energy Regen rope to keep the ult debuffs flowing. Still, for a 3-star, Loop punches way above its weight.
Destruction: Collapsing Sky

This is the one that makes people do a double-take. Collapsing Sky boosts Basic ATK and Skill DMG by 40% — which is insane on Blade because he doesn’t care much about ATK%, he scales with HP. So the low base ATK is irrelevant. I’ve seen Blade mains argue that an R5 Collapsing Sky outperforms some 5-star options for his personal damage in certain fights. It’s also great for Hook and Physical Trailblazer. Even Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae can use it, though his ATK scaling makes the low base a minor drawback. But if you have Blade and no signature, do not sleep on this cone — it might just be your best friend.
Abundance: Multiplication

For healers, speed is king. Multiplication’s effect advances the wielder’s action forward after using their Basic ATK. This means your healer can generate more skill points and heal more often. The base HP is also quite high for a 3-star, which matters for HP-scaling healers like Lynx, Natasha, or Bailu. I’ve used Multiplication on Luocha in a no-heal-needed team just for skill point spam, and it was hilarious. Can a 3-star really compete with Post-Op Conversation? Not in raw healing output, but in action economy, Multiplication can give your team a surprising tempo advantage. It’s worth trying if you’re missing better options.
Preservation: Amber

Last but not least, Amber for Preservation units. It provides a base DEF boost and then an additional up to 64% DEF at max superimpose. Is there a better friend for shielders like Gepard, March 7th, or even the Trailblazer (Fire)? Their shields scale purely on DEF, so this transforms them into absolute walls. The low base stat doesn’t matter much when you’re stacking DEF% anyway. I used Amber on my Fire Trailblazer for the longest time, and it was the only reason I survived high-level Simulated Universe runs. Even in 2026, if you’re building a DEF-scaling tank, Amber is a cheap, R5 powerhouse that just works.
So there you have it — my favorite 3-star Light Cones that still hold their own in Honkai: Star Rail. Are they endgame-worthy? Some of them, absolutely, especially with certain characters. For newcomers or free-to-play players, investing in a few R5 copies of these can carry you through a ton of content while you save up for those fancy 5-stars. Don’t underestimate the little guys!
