The Best Dog Training Idea Ever

Do you want to turn your pooch immediately into a perfect little angel without spending tons of money?  Does your dog jump on people?  Does he bark obsessively?

Here’s one of my many dog training secrets that I use with my clients dogs.  I have been able to correct almost every single bad behavior in dogs with this one proven method.  The best part is it won’t cost you a ton of money.  In fact it will be the best 89 cents you have ever spent!  This is a wonderful non physical but highly effective tool to use.

 Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

• 1 empty aluminum soda can
• 5 pennies
• Masking tape

 Place the pennies into the empty can and seal it shut with some masking tape.  It’s that simple. When your dog engages in a bad behavior you wish to stop; shake the can ONCE.  This is a once UP/DOWN.  You do not need to shake, shake and shake the can.  If you do they will quickly get desensitized to the startle/stop effect plus it’s very unpleasant to their ears.  My rule of thumb is don’t shake out of anger; just once for discipline.

Once you have shaken the can; immediately following it say a command to the dog such as “No bark, no bite, no jumping etc.” Then tell them what to do instead such as “sit.”  After they sit you will know you have their attention.

 Do not be surprised if your dog, almost immediately resumes the bad behavior.  Be prepared and repeat the shake can process.  As with any training it takes consistency and repeating over and over.  You must be patient and CONSISTENT  EVERY TIME.  Make a couple of cans for your home so that they are always within arm’s reach.

You can also speed up the learning process by adding one last step.  After you have them sit; divert their attention to another fun pleasant activity such as playing with a toy with you.

To a dog there is no better reward than getting to play with Mom and Dad.
